Damascus Gate

Damascus Gate is the most ornate of the gates set into Jerusalem’s Old City walls, rebuilt by Suleiman the Magnificent in 1537. Discussed here as part of a tour of Roman and Byzantine Jerusalem, with the earlier Roman gate foundations still visible beneath the entrance.
