This page explains what personal data I collect when you visit myisraeliguide.com, why I collect it, who I share it with, and your rights. I’ve tried to write it in plain English. If anything is unclear, please email me — contact details at the bottom.
Who I am
I’m Samuel Green, trading as "My Israeli Guide" — a Tel Aviv-based, Ministry of Tourism–licensed private guide. For the purposes of UK GDPR, EU GDPR, and the Israeli Privacy Protection Law (1981), I am the data controller of any personal data this website processes.
What I collect, and why

I do not collect special-category data (health, ethnicity, religion, biometrics) and I don’t ask for it. If you choose to share dietary or accessibility information when planning a trip, I keep it only for as long as needed to deliver the trip.
Who I share data with
Where I use external services to operate the site, they act as my data processors and are bound by contract to handle your data only on my instructions:
- Google Analytics (Google LLC, USA) — anonymised analytics, only if you accept the analytics cookie category.
- Automattic, Inc. (USA) — Akismet spam-checks comments against their service.
- My web host, Catalyst2 (UK) — server logs (IP addresses, page requests) for security and uptime, retained 30 days.
- My email provider — to deliver your contact-form message to my inbox.
Some of these processors are based in the USA. Transfers outside the UK/EU are protected by the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses and/or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework where applicable.
How long I keep your data
I retain records (contact enquiries, booking and trip notes, comments) while they have an active business purpose — most often because clients return to plan another trip and the previous conversation lets me serve them well second time round. Where law requires a minimum retention period, I honour it (notably 7 years for booking records under Israeli tax law). Analytics data is aggregated by Google and deleted by them after 14 months. You can request deletion of your personal data at any time — email privacy@myisraeliguide.com and I’ll do it within 30 days, except where law requires me to keep specific records longer.
Your rights
Under UK/EU GDPR and Israeli law, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data I hold about you.
- Correct anything inaccurate.
- Delete your data ("right to be forgotten") where I no longer have a legitimate reason to keep it.
- Object to processing or restrict it.
- Withdraw consent at any time (this doesn’t affect processing already carried out).
- Receive your data in a portable format.
- Complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk), the Israeli Privacy Protection Authority, or your local EU data-protection authority.

Cookies
This site sets cookies. See the Cookie Policy for the full list, what each one does, and how to manage them.
Children
This site isn’t aimed at children. I welcome family bookings (and love guiding kids), but the site’s content is for the adult planning the trip. I don’t knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16.
Changes
If I make material changes to this policy I’ll update the "Last updated" date at the top. For meaningful changes, I’ll add a note on the homepage for at least 30 days.
