A tour group looking out over the Sea of Galilee in northern Israel

He was happy to offer different narratives on complex and controversial topics, and to have open, honest discussion.

The Rt Hon Ian Austin MP

Samuel returned for the fifth year to guide our annual policy trek, a delegation of fifty graduate students, with a balanced, even-handed account of highly complex sites.

Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy

Outstanding communication skills and a calm, positive attitude. I was especially impressed with his sensitivity to students of various religions.

“We knew we could trust him with our VIPs, and he excelled.”

“We commissioned Samuel to take some major corporate VIPs on a private tour of Jerusalem and received first class feedback from them. They found Samuel to be hugely knowledgable, totally engaging and full of insights. We knew we’d be able to trust Samuel with our VIP guests, and he excelled in this task. He was a pleasure to work with in the planing for this trip.”

“A bespoke tour, accommodating the little ones.”

“Samuel is a talented guide who took us around Jerusalem with our 2 young daughters (2&3 years old). He was very flexible and tried to accommodate everyone including the little ones by designing a bespoke tour according to our experiences, preferences and passions. We started with a visit of the old city: Western Wall, Church of the Holy Sepulchre. We carried on in the afternoon with the science museum for the little ones and an Israeli wine tasting. On top of being very knowledgeable and educated (MA in Hebrew and Israeli studies from Cambridge) Samuel pays a lot of attention to small details even for the little ones. We had an unforgettable experience and even found some time to speak about geopolitics in the region. We would recommend Samuel without any hesitation.”

“Don’t think twice - book Samuel now!”

“Samuel came at the recommendation of my friend, who traveled with him on a Wharton MBA trip. Boy am I glad she told us about him - my boyfriend and I had the best week traveling throughout Israel with Samuel! A few things you need to know about him - 1. Safety - If you’re at all concerned about traveling to Israel, especially to Jerusalem, Samuel is your guy. He was in constant contact with the authorities to make sure that we would be able to enjoy our trip without worry. I felt full confidence in his ability to recommend whether activities in our itinerary were safe, and whether where we were staying was safe. 2. Pre-trip planning - Samuel makes this as easy as possible. From catering the itinerary to your interests, to where to stay on your budget, to the restaurants to dine at, Samuel has you covered. I was amazed at the level of care he took and the amount of time he spent pre-trip to make sure our vacation was exactly to our liking. If you’re a foodie, even more bonus points - per request, Samuel booked us reservations at the best places around the country. 3. Depth of knowledge - Both myself and my boyfriend are total history/culture nerds. Samuel plays at that masters’ level, like a grad-level course in Israeli studies. He’s open to any questions, and gives you straight answers - both sides of the story. 4. Every faith - One of the things I loved most about Samuel was his ability to give the Christian, Jewish and Muslim history of any sight in Israel. So if you’re looking for a specific viewpoint, you’re covered, and if you’re looking for a broad perspective, you’re covered. 5. Unique - The more you travel with Samuel, the more you learn what a unicorn he is. This isn’t your average tour guide - he’s a rapper, a DJ, a former marketer, a professor, and a friend. You won’t be disappointed - I promise. What are you waiting for? Book now!”

“His perspective deepened our own Judeo-Christian roots.”

“Samuel Green is the best! My husband and I had a fabulous time with him, traveling all over Israel. Samuel is a walking encyclopedia with a vast knowledge of geography, history, politics, socioeconomics, religion, culture and so on! You can ask him about anything and he will probably know the answer! Samuel makes these historical sites come alive with his stories and understanding. Furthermore, Samuel’s humor made for so much fun! We laughed as we learned, and enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. Throughout our trip, we ended up changing our minds about our plans and Samuel was flexible and so gracious to switch things up. He wanted to make sure that we got to do all the things that we wanted to do while being mindful of our budget. Samuel was also attentive to us on a personal level, taking great care to make sure we were feeling good, protected from the sun and well hydrated. What a great guy! Lastly, my husband and I pastor a Christian church and and we thoroughly enjoyed having the perspective of this wonderful Jewish man. Samuel’s passion for Israel and Judaism greatly enhanced our own understanding of our Judeo-Christian roots as we journeyed through the Holy Land. God’s love towards Israel lasts forever! Ezra 3:11”

“A neutral account of the contentious parts of Israeli history.”

“Samuel is an engaging story-teller, has a great sense of humour and recommendations for food, music, souvenirs! He is genuine and gives you a neutral / factual account of the more contentious parts of Israeli history that you are unlikely to get from other guides (trust me: I had a not-so-great experience with another guide at Yad Vashem). I spent eight days in his company and he is one of the reasons I had the time of my life in Israel!”

“He had the right Bible passage ready at each site – at times, quite moving.”

“Samuel guided part of my trip; including a culinary tour of Tel Aviv, a trip to the desert surrounding Eilat and a tour of Jerusalem. He also assisted with the planning of the rest of my trip. He was a class act throughout. Particular qualities of his which contributed to the trip’s success are as follows: Bespoke nature of the experience. Samuel was keen to know what I was most interested in and then tailored the trips to my tastes. For example, before the trip to Jerusalem I mentioned that I was looking forward to seeing the sites where various passages of the Bible took place. As such, whilst visiting numerous Biblical sites (both old an new testament), Samuel had on hand the appropriate passage from the bible. This was, at times, quite moving. Eloquence. Samuel’s mastery of the English language is absolute and all explanations given were both clear and precise. This was particularly evident when he was describing the history, architecture, Biblical references and current practices of the stations of the Via Dolorosa. At no time did I feel overwhelmed by the volume of information provided and his evocative oratory really enhanced my experience. Knowledge. Without coming across as an ‘anorak’, Samuel’s knowledge of the sites that he guides is formidable. For example, on our trip to the mountains of Timna, Samuel gave a detailed account of the various people which inhabited the land and the archeological evidence for said inhabitation. I had limited knowledge of the canaanite people and he was able to elaborate in detail as to both their historical significance and way of life. Affability. Samuel’s has an engaging character and casual British wit. Further, he is a natural raconteur and many of his anecdotes were laugh-out-loud funny. This was particularly evident on the culinary tour of Hatikva market, where his playful banter with the market sellers and colourful stories of the origins of the food in question was something to behold. Just as importantly, his manner remained appropriate throughout and he struck just the right tone while giving his engaging explanations of sites of religious significance. All in all, I highly recommend Samuel as a guide.”

“Fifth year running our 50-student policy trek.”

“It was a great pleasure and honor to have Samuel return for the fifth year to guide our annual policy trek, a delegation of 50 graduate students from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, throughout Israel. As one of the trek leaders, Sam did an excellent job at studying our itinerary and carefully weaving stories, multiple narratives and, when applicable, anecdotes into every stop on our tour. It is clear that Sam takes great pains to give a balanced and even-handed account of highly complex and contested sites in Israel. Sam certainly knows how to work a crowd to maintain good morale and vibes on long tour dates, often providing some comic relief with his corny "Dad" jokes and sharing some of his favorite Israeli songs accompanied by group dances on a charter bus. Sam made our trek experience deeply informative and memorable. This experience will undoubtedly remain with me and my colleagues for years to come.”

“Three summers running, he holds teenagers’ attention.”

“For the third summer in a row, I was lucky enough to have Samuel guide my teen leadership group’s summer travel days. Knowing I would be working alongside Samuel made everything easier for me before and during the trip. Samuel has many strengths (extremely knowledgeable, creative problem solver, knows all the good ice cream places!), but being a guide who has a clear vision of what he is going to share, and being able to hold the interest of teenagers while doing so, are rare qualities. Samuel also goes above and beyond the call of duty - he is always looking out for the best interests of the group, advocates on our behalf, and remains available to participants (and leaders!) even after the trip has ended. I know that my teens can always email him with questions about the places we visited or about Israel in general, and he is always happy to answer my questions or give me suggestions even when unrelated to our work together. I can’t recommend him enough!”

“At the Holy Sepulchre he pulled us aside for the hidden treasures.”

“1. Do you want to learn more? 2. Are you open to new ideas? 3. Are you ready to change your perspectives? 4. Can you listen to someone without being stubborn? Well, Samuel does all those things and he deserves to have customers who will do the same. Every conversation I had with him opened up my eyes to understanding a complex nation. He’s not a tour guide. He’s a friend, a teacher, and a wise man. He’s someone who will make you laugh on your trip, who will expand your mind, and will be there when you need someone. When our group of 45 people went to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, he pulled me and one other member (the only Catholics) aside and took the time to show us the hidden Catholic treasures. He is so personal that he made all 45 people on that trip have a completely unique experience. Whenever I had questions, he would answer them as honestly as possible, with as much background as he can possibly put into an answer. When one of the sites made me extremely anxious, he noticed right away and was able to calm me down. Want to get a tattoo like I did? Well, he has the tattoo artist on speed dial and was ready to call him to book us a last minute appointment. I’ll never forget this trip and it’s all because of the graciousness Samuel has shown. If you’re considering Samuel as your tour guide, be ready for an adventure. My advice? Ask him as many questions as possible. Get the most you can out of him because he is a special human being and he deserves to have his talents be given to the most curious travelers. He’s not just a tour guide for the time of your trip, he’s a lifelong friend.”

“Pre-teens, teenagers, parents and grandparents – he inspired us all.”

“Samuel guided our family track of 30 men, women and children through Tel Aviv and Jerusalem for a period of 8 days. It is not easy to involve and inspire pre-teens, teenagers, parents and grandparents all at the same time, but Samuel managed to accomplish this feat with a combination of humor, intellect, perspective and patience. My wife and I have been on tours to Israel with very excellent guides, but Samuel is clearly our favorite.”

“My Lifelong Israeli Guide”

“Samuel’s approach is to be our lifelong guide through Israel. He started planning with us long before our trip and continued with advice and answers even after wrapping up our two-day journey through Golan ending in Jerusalem by way of Bet She’an. His passion for Israel and her history comes through in the stories he shares at each site. Whether you’re a first timer to Israel (husband) or a repeat visitor (me), Samuel sets the foundation you’ll need to understand the architecture or historical significance of a site when visiting it. He crafted a route and included sites that matched our interest in Israeli history. He recommended places I’d not experienced so even my 3rd trip to Israel was new. During the drive he added valuable insight into religious history and politics and adjusted the itinerary as our interests evolved. I feel as if we’re going home more educated in all aspects of Israeli culture. (PS - he also helped us find cell phone repair 4 days after our journey ended). Samuel’s contact info is in my address book so I can quickly recommend him to friends headed his way.”

“A 5am start and a can-do attitude, with not a minute wasted.”

“I called Samuel at short notice to see if he could help provide a tour for me and some important business guests from overseas. As part of a 24 hour visit to Tel Aviv for meetings they had decided at the last minute that they would like to visit Jerusalem. Samuel was extremely flexible and I very much appreciated his can-do attitude, even when it meant leaving Tel Aviv at 5am the next day! He was considerate, asking if we would prefer some guiding or would rather sleep on the way to Jerusalem; and when we asked for the guiding he made sure to use the journey time well to provide some great background for our visit. This meant that when we arrived in the Old City we were able to delve straight in to the holy sites. Samuel was able to synthesize the key information and help us understand and appreciate the sites we visited, despite the short amount of time we had there. In just 90 minutes we were able to visit the Western Wall, enjoy a great viewpoint over the Temple Mount with an in depth explanation, and explore the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Crucially, Samuel kept track of the time and made sure that we were back in Tel Aviv in time for our meetings, without making us feel rushed or under pressure. I cannot recommend Samuel highly enough. He was entertaining, informative and bonded well with our group. Most importantly, he focused on our needs and interests and ensured we had a great tour within the restraints that we had. I will certainly be using his services in the future.”

“A few free hours, managed perfectly.”

“As we were in Israel for Business we managed to free up few hours to visit Jerusalem. Sam managed 2 things perfectly : 1. During the transit between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, he went through the history of Jerusalem and explained very well how history has shaped this city. This was key to understand what we saw 2. The tour which we made in the city went very effectively through most of the key landmarks. I really recommend Sam and will for sure keep his details closely to share with any friends visiting Israel.”

“Presents multiple perspectives on complicated topics.”

“My Graduate program toured Israel with Sam and he was incredible. His knowledge base is wide and his humor is on point. Sam truly knows how to present and discuss multiple perspectives on complicated topics, delve into history’s lesser known facts, and keep groups engaged for days on end. Thank you, Sam! My tour was amazing!”

“Catholic schools my whole life and he knows the New Testament better.”

“I’ve had the privilege of seeing Israel with Samuel as my tour guide twice now. I can’t imagine going to Israel without Samuel’s guidance. I have been attending Catholic schools my entire life and I think it safe to say that Samuel knows much more about the New Testament then I do. In fact, I’m always amazed with how much knowledge Samuel brings to the table. He also offers many different narratives and explains the many different points of views that the people of Israel hold. I’m so grateful to call Samuel my friend. I know that I’ll be recommending him as a tour guide to family and friends who visit Israel!! Toda ahi!!”

“Ancient and modern Jewish texts opened up Tel Aviv.”

“We asked Samuel to give students (ages 18-19) a tour of “Jewish Tel Aviv”. He led a fantastic tour that included interesting and unexpected destinations and information about the modern city. Samuel was able to really engage the students through ancient and modern Jewish texts, which helped pieced together a Jewish perspective of Tel Aviv that they had never considered before. Samuel was very generous with his time and hospitality. He has wealth of knowledge and is very good at tailoring the tour to fit the requirements and requests of the group. Additionally he is very responsible, communicative, and will do everything to ensure the tour goes smoothly. Highly recommended!”

“Happy to offer different narratives on complex and controversial topics.”

“Having been to Israel multiple times in the past, I was looking to go a bit off the beaten path and learn in depth about the early development of Tel Aviv and through it, the beginnings of modern Israel. Samuel readily tailored a tour to match exactly what I was looking for and also to fit in with my schedule between other appointments. He was a brilliant guide and I learnt so much about Israel’s development, the growth of Tel Aviv and patterns of migration. He was happy to offer different narratives when exploring complex and controversial topics in this historical period, and to have open discussion about contemporary challenges. I would certainly recommend Samuel for anyone looking for a tour that is perfectly matched to your interests, no matter how specific, and in general for anyone looking for a memorable and enjoyable experience in Israel.”

“The best guide they’d ever had, and I’m booking next year.”

“Even though it’s been almost a month since we finished the Wharton Israel Trek, I keep on getting emails and calls from the trekkers about the wonderful time they had on the trek. I know I thanked you several times now, but now that the survey results are in, it seems that a large part of the reason these people are thanking me is you :) People have told us that you were the best tour guide they ever had; the biggest compliment came from one of the participants, when she told me that she’s planning to send her parents to Israel, and to make sure you show them around. You were great, and I’m already booking you for next year’s trek :)”

“He kept us totally enthralled — fascinating historical context for some, and games for others.”

“Samuel led a tour for about 20 members of my family in Caesarea. For someone else, this could have been a challenging group - it was blazing hot and the participants ranged in age from 8 to 78, with a good smattering of not easily impressed teenagers, some Israelis who had been to Caesarea many times and some in Israel for the first time. Sam kept us all more than interested, he kept us totally enthralled, with fascinating information about the historical context for some, and games for others. He paid such good attention to the specific needs of our group, and because of this everyone had a great time and thought I was brilliant for finding him. I couldn’t recommend Samuel more highly and will definitely book him again next time my family is in town.”

“Expert and personable at once.”

“When working with Samuel on the trip’s agenda, I was impressed by his dedication to tailor a trip that will meet our group’s unique characteristics. Samuel delivered the content in the most interesting, interactive and unique way, keeping our attendees present and attentive to his explanations. The history of Israel can be long, confusing and hard to relate to, especially when many of the participants have never heard about these stories prior to the trip. Samuel’s unique guiding style led our group to be constantly engaged with the material and remember the stories long after we left the country. Samuel is very good at walking the line between being an expert on a subject matter and being friendly and personal. In between giving commentary on the landscape seen from the bus, preparing for the next landmark on the agenda and ensuring we have lunch waiting for us when we get off the bus, Samuel made sure to connect with our attendees on a personal level. By the end of the trip, all our attendees felt like Samuel was “one of the crew” and expressed hope to meet again in the future. Samuel is a very personable man. Friendly and professional, he has good interpersonal skills that lead him to work well with the partners and suppliers throughout the trip. Building rapport while expecting high output, Samuel led our group to have a great experience with the bus driver, hotel staff and restaurants management throughout the trip. In closing, the experience with Samuel during our trip surpassed all my expectations. Samuel’s unique personality, quality of delivery and willingness to “jump in” to our group’s culture made our trip unforgettable. I believe he would be a tremendous asset to any group visiting Israel.”

“Samuel was not only a knowledgeable tour guide, he has a great sense of humor and kept students engaged and interested in everything from ancient to modern history, politics, religion, economics, and business – just what you would hope in a first class Israeli tour guide. I recommend him without hesitation!”

“Great tour guide for Jerusalem”

“We hired Samuel to take my 21-year old son, my husband, and I on a one-day tour of the Old City in Jerusalem. Samuel was great at communicating by email before our trip, and met us by one of the gates to the Old City. At the end of the day, we were meeting some relatives for dinner nearby and he was kind enough to walk us over to where we were meeting them so we wouldn’t get lost. I decided on Samuel for our tour because of his excellent academic background--it was clear from his website that he was not the run-of-the-mill guide and indeed we were not disappointed. Samuel was not only knowledgeable, he framed the whole day in a thematic way which helped to tie together the three major religions represented in Jerusalem. We were able to visit not only the major churches, synagogues, archaeological sites, and the Temple Mount, we also enjoyed a fun lunch at a small restaurant in the Old City that offered delicious hummus and other local treats. We also visited an Arab pastry shop that we would never have found on our own that is a real secret in the Old City. One of the benefits of a private tour was that we were able to go at our own speed and not feel rushed at any one site. I highly recommend Samuel for any Israeli tour. In addition to his fantastic knowledge of Israel, he has a good sense of humor and was a very pleasant person to spend the day with!”
