“He had the right Bible passage ready at each site – at times, quite moving.”
“Samuel guided part of my trip; including a culinary tour of Tel Aviv, a trip to the desert surrounding Eilat and a tour of Jerusalem. He also assisted with the planning of the rest of my trip. He was a class act throughout. Particular qualities of his which contributed to the trip’s success are as follows: Bespoke nature of the experience. Samuel was keen to know what I was most interested in and then tailored the trips to my tastes. For example, before the trip to Jerusalem I mentioned that I was looking forward to seeing the sites where various passages of the Bible took place. As such, whilst visiting numerous Biblical sites (both old an new testament), Samuel had on hand the appropriate passage from the bible. This was, at times, quite moving. Eloquence. Samuel’s mastery of the English language is absolute and all explanations given were both clear and precise. This was particularly evident when he was describing the history, architecture, Biblical references and current practices of the stations of the Via Dolorosa. At no time did I feel overwhelmed by the volume of information provided and his evocative oratory really enhanced my experience. Knowledge. Without coming across as an ‘anorak’, Samuel’s knowledge of the sites that he guides is formidable. For example, on our trip to the mountains of Timna, Samuel gave a detailed account of the various people which inhabited the land and the archeological evidence for said inhabitation. I had limited knowledge of the canaanite people and he was able to elaborate in detail as to both their historical significance and way of life. Affability. Samuel’s has an engaging character and casual British wit. Further, he is a natural raconteur and many of his anecdotes were laugh-out-loud funny. This was particularly evident on the culinary tour of Hatikva market, where his playful banter with the market sellers and colourful stories of the origins of the food in question was something to behold. Just as importantly, his manner remained appropriate throughout and he struck just the right tone while giving his engaging explanations of sites of religious significance. All in all, I highly recommend Samuel as a guide.”
“A neutral account of the contentious parts of Israeli history.”
“Samuel is an engaging story-teller, has a great sense of humour and recommendations for food, music, souvenirs! He is genuine and gives you a neutral / factual account of the more contentious parts of Israeli history that you are unlikely to get from other guides (trust me: I had a not-so-great experience with another guide at Yad Vashem). I spent eight days in his company and he is one of the reasons I had the time of my life in Israel!”
“I have been to Israel numerous times and visited other areas of this country with many guides. That being said, I have to say that Samuel ranks as one of the most delightful and thoughtful guides I have encountered. He wove insight and humor together to tell the wonderful stories of Jaffa and Tel Aviv. It’s obvious that he has a depth of knowledge when it comes to Israel’s ancient and modern history, diverse culture, and many religions. Therefore, distilling these vast topics into memorable moments requires confidence and thoughtfulness - definite attributes of Samuel. I would recommend him to anyone seeking a quality guide when visiting Israel!”
“Samuel is as knowledgeable a guide I’ve ever met on my travels. Combine that with a witty, dry British sense of humor and you got everything you’d could hope for.”
“Organized, knowledgeable, friendly and professional - everything you want from a tour guide.”
“If you are looking for fun and very professional tour guide service on your next Israel vacation or business trip, I highly recommend My Israeli Guide. Knowledgeable, organized and friendly, my guide Samuel Green not only brought the history and culture of Israel alive in his presentations but planned a personalized trip that inspired me to travel more of Israel.”
“I have been on two tours with Samuel: Tel Aviv & Ramle. Both were excellent. I learned a lot both times. I especially liked the Ramle trip because we ate traditional Israeli food at places I would never have gone to on my own. Also, we rode in row boats in an underground cistern that is more than a thousand years old! Samuel blends his great sense of humor with interesting history lessons and fun historical facts. Highly recommended.”
“I’ve done a few tours with Samuel now and can’t recommend him highly enough. I did both a group tour and a private tour with Samuel and both were really informative and fun. From ancient ruins in Northern Israel, including one of the last remaining Roman temples, to Byzantine synagogues, to watching the bird migration in the Huila Valley, to discovering the best falafel place in Afula (including the world famous falafel ball throwing man!), you’re in safe hands when it comes to a tour with Samuel. He knows how to customize every tour to your specific requirements too, drawing on his broad knowledge of the country and world history as a whole. In short, you’re guaranteed a great day out!”
“Samuel’s tour was a highlight of my time in Israel. The tour itself was fascinating, clear explanations, interesting anecdotes, links between archaeological finds and bible passages and so on. The practical side of the tour was also flawless, I loved that Samuel knew how to avoid the crowds so you could enjoy the sites in peace and not feel rushed along or part of the masses. The value however wasn’t just in the tour itself, with such a breadth of knowledge on history, politics, religion etc Samuel’s commentary and patience to answer my endless questions meant I gained a whole new appreciation for the complexity of the conflict and the roots of modern Israeli culture. I found myself thinking back to Samuel’s explanations throughout my time in Israel. And last but definitely not least, one of the biggest benefits was his practical help with where to stay, how to get around, where to eat -be it breakfast, lunch or dinner. Every recommendation was spot on every time! I really feel the time spent with Samuel set me up practically for a smooth (& delicious!) trip as well as gaining well informed insights into an incredibly fascinating country. Thank you Samuel!”
“Sam is well prepared, well organized and keeps you informed prior to the trip. He makes sure everyone knows what we are/will be doing. Sam is funny and knowledgeable, providing info and anecdotes throughout the day without overdoing it. His wealth of knowledge is amazing and what he doesn’t know, he looks up and provides shortly after. Can’t wait for the next trip!”
“If you need a guide for anything, Samuel’s your man”
“Samuel is simply the best. So knowledgeable about seemingly everything, so thoughtful and thorough in his planning, always cheerful and generally just a joy to be around. He goes to great lengths to tailor your trip exactly to what you want, and really thinks about creative ways to bring it to the next level. Can’t recommend him highly enough.”
“Sam was everything you’d want from a tour guide - extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and always in a good mood. I’ve never had a better one, and I learned so much about Israel from him. Highly recommended, you won’t be disappointed!”
“I was fortunate to have participated in Samuel’s trip to Ramle. He is incredibly knowledgeable and will show you many things people don’t know. Having lived in Israel for 5 years, I never had the inclination to visit Ramle, nor did I know what Ramle had to offer. Between the Karaite world headquarters, the pilgrimage routes through the old market, and lunch in a Bukharian restaurant, it was a great experience.”
“Samuel Green was recommended as a guide. We spent a wonderfull informative day in Jerusalem. Thanks to Samuel’s thorough knowledge we explored the better and less well known sites. He was very sensitive to my interests and tailor made my tour including a wide variety of arab cake shops !!!! I felt secure throughout , as he knows how to manage the locals. Samuel is multi lingual, and good knowledge of french, came in handy when my english wasen’t up to the mark. “Samuel was recommended by a friend in Israel. It was my first time in a country so I was coming in a little blind. He met me after one of my meetings and we headed to Jerusalem from Tel Aviv. I was most curious about this history of the region so he spend the cab ride taking me through the rough overview (he even had a book of exhibits to visually illustrate what was going on!). I (only half jokingly) said that the education on the cab ride alone made the day worth it! After a great hummus stop for lunch, he took me through the Old City in Jerusalem. I got to see the obvious sites, and some of the less obvious sites (I’m a foodie so the secret back alley tahini factory was a great addition). I’d say he never left my side, but that’s not entirely true because at the Western Wall he couldn’t join me on the ladies side so patiently waited at the ladies entrance while I took my time in there. We hit all of the major religious sites. He did a great job of walking me through all of the different areas in a thoughtful and unbiased way, which I was definitely looking for. We stopped at the Israel Museum last, where I got an overview of Israel from an archaeological perspective. Overall, I was thrilled. I got the historical, religious, and archaeological perspectives of the day. Both my brainiac and explorer sides were fully satisfied. Thanks Samuel!!”
“I had a great day being shown around the Old City of Jerusalem. Samuel is truly knowledgeable about all things "Jerusalem". Whilst I had until considered myself not unfamiliar with the city, Samuel took me to uncharted territory, namely, the Temple Mount. It was definitely an experience, and I’m certain not part of standard tours of Jerusalem! If you’re looking for a fun, educational day out, Samuel’s the one to call!”
“Not only did I have a magnificent trip to Israel, and learnt a huge amount about the country’s beautiful yet complex history and culture, I did this in the company of an intelligent, friendly and very fun person. I travelled with Samuel to Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, and would highly recommend Samuel for your trip to Israel. You won’t regret it!”
“Samuel’s knowledge is excellent and he’s a great story-teller. It was amusing and fun, at a good pace to keep the group interested and included several points of interest not noticeable to the average tourist. I’d thoroughly recommend Samuel’s tour.”
“I really enjoyed my time in Israel because of him. He is very knowledgeable and fun. He told a lot of interesting histories and stories, and most importantly he told it in a fun way. I was in Israel for about a week and I visited Tel Aviv, Jaffa, Jerusalem, Nazareth, and Capernaum. I also went to holocaust museum which I think one of the most memorable experience to me. Because of Sam, I’m able to understand more about Israel and see it from a lot of different angles, from history, bible, Jew’s, Christian’s and Muslim’s perspective. Also, he has an interesting app that helps me to organize my itinerary better. Thank you, Sam!”
“Seriously though...Sam is the best. Don’t usually rate on Trip Advisor but after this tour it was worth it. Genuine dude, super knowledgeable and his dad jokes are top tier. Highly highly recommend.”
“Sam`s knowledge about Israel`s history takes you far back and he lets you connect the past with the present. Have a question? Any Question on Israel....Well Sam is ISRAEL. In a modern tour guide humorist way he guides you through any question you have about the holy land and any monument or place you visit. With a Cambridge Educated Guide that loves what he does you cant go wrong.”
“With a sincere, objective, and informative view on all that is Israel, Sam serves as an ideal tour guide for anyone who is visiting Israel for the first time. His knowledge of significant events, historical sites, and current cultural dynamics helped immerse me in the Israeli culture and made the trip worth every moment.”
“An unforgettable day learning about Tel Aviv and Israel. Thoroughly recommended.”
“I’ve been to Israel several times, but wanted to get off the beaten path and learn in depth about the early development of Tel Aviv and through that, the beginnings of modern Israel. Samuel tailored a tour to match exactly what I was looking for and also to fit in with my schedule between other appointments. He was a brilliant guide and I learnt so much about Israel’s development, the growth of Tel Aviv and patterns of migration. He was able to offer different narratives when exploring complex and controversial topics in this historical period, and to have open discussion about contemporary challenges. I would certainly recommend Samuel for anyone looking for a tour that is perfectly matched to your interests, no matter how specific, and in general for anyone looking for a memorable and enjoyable experience in Israel.”

“Samuel’s tour of Jaffa was excellent. He was very knowledgeable, patient, entertaining, thoughtful and kind. I highly recommend using Samuel as a tour guide.”
“Samuel is an incredible storyteller with a sense of humor. He knows his facts very well, makes you feel engaged and is able to give you explanations from all angles without putting his opinion in the way. I truly enjoyed having him as my guide and would highly recommend him for any tour.”
“Superb and knowledgeable tour guide and educator (and fun!)”
“Sammy is by far the most knowledgeable person I have come across in this part of the world. There is nothing he doesn’t know about Israeli history, politics or culture. But he doesn’t bombard you with information - he makes it accessible and punctuates the educational stuff with humor and often fascinating trivia. As a Brit now living in Israel, he also brings a sense of perspective, and understands how the various aspects of Israeli society and culture might be interpreted or understood by visitors from Europe or the US. He’s also really adaptable and amenable - and always seems willing to tailor things to the client. Strong recommend!”
“Samuel expertly weaves ancient folklore, historical narrative, current events and just the right dosage of dad jokes to provide a masterful Yafo touring experience. I highly recommend this tour for anyone looking to take a dive into Yafo’s rich history in a way that is both educational and entertaining.”
“Samuel took me on a private tour of several sites in the north of Israel, on a full-day trip. We visited Yodfat National Park, where he brought the history of the place to life, even bringing with his own copy of Josephus, as we walked around the remains. Then we spent some time at the Monkey Forest animal shelter park, which was a delight. We finished with a look around the prehistoric caves of the Carmel. Everything was explained with great verve and British wit. Samuel’s broad knowledge of Israeli history along with a phenomenal and even-handed grasp of contemporary Israeli culture, politics and society, meant that the time travelling to and between the various stops flew by. I was delighted to also grab an amazing late lunch with him at a place in Hadera he had heard was good for carnivores like me, which was also superb. I’m happy to recommend him, especially for anyone trying to pack in a lot in a short trip.”
