Rav Avraham Yitzchak Kook (1865-1935) was the first Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi of British Mandate Palestine and a foundational figure in religious Zionist thought. Discussed here as part of a post on the European powers in Jerusalem, which passes his house near the city centre.
