Lod is a mixed Jewish-Arab city on the Tel Aviv coastal plain, known in antiquity as Lydda and home to a Byzantine-era basilica honouring St George. Discussed here as part of a day exploring Ramla and Lod, two of the central plain’s oldest continuously-inhabited towns.
