Leon Pinsker
Leon Pinsker (1821-1891) was a Russian-Jewish physician and writer whose pamphlet Auto-Emancipation argued that Jews needed a homeland of their own. Discussed here as part of a visit to the Hebrew University on Mt Scopus, where his ideas form part of the intellectual backdrop to the institution’s founding.
