Ir David (the City of David) is the original Iron Age core of Jerusalem, on the ridge south of the Temple Mount. Excavations there have uncovered Canaanite and Israelite layers. Posts here cover the site through the First Temple period and into Second Temple Jerusalem, taking in Hezekiah’s Tunnel, the Gihon Spring, and the late Second Temple stepped street up to the Temple Mount.
