This is the part where I get to tell you a little bit about me!
I’m originally from London but have been on the move quite a bit over the years, with stints living in Israel, Japan, Argentina and Switzerland. I love to travel and have been doing my best to see as much of the world as possible.
While in the UK I spent four years studying at the University of Cambridge and hold a 1st class BA (with honours) and also an MA in Hebrew and Israeli Studies. I love languages and in addition to English and Hebrew also speak French, together with passable Spanish and Japanese.
I spent ten years as a volunteer youth leader/counsellor in the UK’s largest Jewish youth organisation, culminating in a year working as its Executive Director. This gave me a lot of experience of working as an educator for young people, including leading groups in Israel.
In 2008 I entered the world of business, joining the marketing function at Procter & Gamble, working on various household name brands. It was with P&G that I made my move to Israel in June 2010 and since then have been living in Tel Aviv.
Then, in the summer of 2012, I decided to make my passion my profession, and enrolled in the intensive two year course to become a licensed tour guide in Israel. I was delighted to pass my exams and am thoroughly enjoying showing visitors around this very special country. I’m happy to say that those visitors also are enjoying themselves – I’m grateful to have been recognised by the Travel & Hospitality Awards as ‘Tour Guide of the Year in Israel‘ and by the Luxury Travel Guide as the ‘Tour Guide of the Year for Tel Aviv‘. I have also been awarded a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence three years running.
Outside of guiding, I produce and present an Israeli music radio show, Kol Cambridge, on Israel’s English language radio station TLV1, write and record music, and am a co-founder of a tech start-up. I am most happily married and recently became a proud father to a beautiful little girl, as well as being a delighted uncle to nine nieces and nephews!
My Guiding Philosophy
There are many different approaches to guiding. Below are a few points which express my thoughts.
- I believe in first and foremost ensuring that you enjoy yourselves! My priority is that you have fun on your trip and I promise to ensure the right balance between providing you with information and allowing you to appreciate the sites we’ll be visiting for yourselves.
- I believe that providing context and understanding is more important than showering you with facts and figures.
- I believe that your questions are more important than my guiding and will always welcome your contributions and thoughts.
- I believe in always building itineraries from scratch so as to be specifically tailored to your interests and needs
